Sharp Community Medical Group – Practice Leadership Academy Graduation

HLI CEO Mo Kasti had the honor of attending the Sharp Community Medical Group Practice Leadership Academy graduation in San Diego, CA.
This dynamic group of independent physicians (primary care and specialists) completed a year-long journey focused on planning, communication, engagement and leading their practices. The academy was launched in July of 2022 and included monthly on-site and virtual educational sessions and performance improvement initiatives.
Part of the applied academy was for each physician to work on an improvement project in their clinic as a way to apply the leadership lessons.
The final project presentations were outstanding and included improvement areas in patient access, phone response rate, patient experience and staff engagement and retention.
The reported themes and lessons learned from the academy and projects were related to the importance and impact of engaging and empowering the clinic staff, empowering them to make decisions following specific agreed upon protocols and SOPs. Delegation, having daily huddles, not seeing perfection by continuously running experimentations to iterate and improve processes were some of the other emerging themes.
Congratulations to the SCMG Practice Leadership Academy graduates as they join the thousands of HLI graduates and lead forward the transformation of healthcare. Ready, Set, Go!
Thank you to SCMG Medical Director Lloyd Kuritsky, Manager of Performance Improvement and Practice Transformation Sunday Marquez and HLI Executive Director Jackie Stetina, and the entire HLI team of facilitators and coaches for their leadership, planning and execution of this fantastic program!
SCMG’s commitment to leadership development is exemplary and it has been an honor to partner with them throughout this year-long transformational leadership development experience.
