HLI & George Washington University Hospital LDI 2023
Leading from the middle is one of the toughest jobs/roles to have in healthcare. That is precisely why we tackled it as part of our ongoing LDI at The George Washington University Hospital.
HLI executive director, Margie West and HLI Founder & CEO, Mo Kasti. lead the discussion and action session centered around Leading from the Middle. Together we discussed the role, opportunities and challenges of middle leadership. We learned the importance of gathering the perspectives of all who have a part of the story, understanding the big picture vision, ensuring that all involved understand their part in aligning their passion and actions to achieve the vision.
Together with GWU Chief Quality Officer, Dr. Ulises Torres, Director of Nursing, Elzbieta Kmiecik, and CEO Kimberly Russo, we covered the importance of self-accountability, peer accountability, inward and outward mindset, success factors of effective leadership from the middle, alignment and accountability with line of sight, feedback and feedforward.
It is an honor to work with this extremely talented team in Washington, DC!
